Ultrasound |
|
Here, at Ashcroft Veterinary Centre we have a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine. This equipment can be used as a diagnostic aid in many medical cases, as well as for pregnancy diagnosis. Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive procedure. For an ultrasound to work a small amount of hair has to be clipped from the site, and the area cleaned with surgical spirit. A coupling gel is then applied to help conduct the waves to the transducer, which then transforms this information into a visible picture on the ultrasound monitor. Unlike x-rays, ultrasound can show moving images. |
