Believe it or not – spring is on its way. As the temperatures start rising so does the flea population. 90% of any flea population will be found as eggs and larvae in carpets and soft furnishings, with the adults generally lurking on your pet! The most common flea is the cat flea, which will also live quite happily on the dog. You may notice your pet scratching or black grains on the animals skin surface, known as flea dirt’s. Fleas can carry diseases and parasites and therefore a regular prevention program should be followed. This may involve spot-on products, tablets or injection. Different treatments may be used to kill the adult fleas, whereas others may cause the flea to become sterile, stopping reproduction. If your pet has a known flea burden, your house should also be sprayed to kill the developing fleas. You can purchase a whole array of flea and worm products at any
